I updated the gas mileage spreadsheet. I'm filling up about once a week now. I obviously like the fact that gas prices have gone down lately which is obvious in the spreadsheet. My average MPG for the past 5000 miles is 16.88 which I think is pretty good given all the city driving I do here in Dallas.

Tom,

Looks like your trip is going well. Give us an update if/when you get to Moab, Utah - I'd love to see some pics, too.

Be safe.

If I had all summer to enjoy this road trip, then Alaska would be awesome! Unfortunately, I only have 14 to 17 days total. I'll try to make plans to visit Alaska next year. Thanks Janson and I hope things are going well with you!

You want to run your Ridgeline? Then why stop at Rushmore? I'm serious: why not drive all the way to Anchorage...? Again, I'm serious. Work your way up to Glacier National Park in Montana. Then work your way to Banff National Park in Alberta, right along the British Columbia border. Do Banff, Jasper, Yoho National Parks. Do the Icefields Parkway. Then keep going north. And keep going north. And keep going north. The Yukon, Tom. The fucking Yukon. Hook a left and cut near Wrangell-St. Elias National Park -- the largest national park in the country. Work your way through the Matanuska Valley. And eventually, land in Anchorage. Have some beers with Janson before cutting down to the Kenai Peninsula. Avoid the black bears, the brown bears, the dall sheep... And the occasional salmon.

You know, Tom. I'm quite serious. Consider it. This place is amazing and I can only imagine how badly you'd love it. Might take more than 14 days, though!!!

Now: rock on.
